Good Faith Estimate of Schedule

For some cities, employers must provide the employee with a written good faith estimate of the employee’s work schedule at the time of hire.

To aid with this, managers can set up Employee Schedule Thresholds. This will warn them in the Scheduler and under shift approvals if they have a Right To Rest rule set.

Employee Thresholds allow you the ability to determine, per individual, the minimum and maximum days and hours scheduled per week; the maximum hours scheduled per day; and the minimum hours between scheduled shifts. If an individual’s schedule and/or scheduled shifts violate any of the configured thresholds, the scheduling manager will be informed with alert badges while creating the schedule.

The Staff page allows managers to view and update details about their employees, including thresholds.

Setting Thresholds for 1 Employee

Individually, thresholds can be set for each employee from within the Staff List.

  • Navigate to the Staff tab, then click on an employee's name.
  • On their profile, select Availability / Thresholds from the top toolbar.

  • To create a Threshold, click the (+) icon towards the top of the page.
  • Scroll down past the Time Block table, and you'll find the following options to set:
    • Days Scheduled in a Week
    • Hours Scheduled in a Week
    • Hours Scheduled in a Day
    • Hours Between Scheduled Shifts
  • Note that if there are blank fields, that means there aren't any individual threshold rules in place for that employee.

**NOTE: Hours Scheduled in a Day and Hours Between Scheduled Shifts can also be defined at the company level to avoid having to set this up for every employee.

When these are setup at the Company Level and the Employee Level, employee level settings will OVERRIDE company settings.

Setting Thresholds for Multiple Employees

Managers will be able to update multiple employees at once from the Staff List. First, select each employee that needs to be edited (or select all of them by clicking the top check box), then navigate to More > Scheduling Thresholds.

Viewing Thresholds on the Scheduler

In the Scheduler, violating these rules will display a warning.  Clicking the warning will reveal what violations occurred, and on what day it will happen.  For a violation that spans two weeks (Hours Between Scheduled Shifts), the warning will appear in both weeks.

**NOTE: You can still post the schedule even with any of the thresholds broken.  See below for an option to avoid this issue.

When using the Auto-Scheduler, selecting the Honor Employee Schedule Thresholds option will prevent the tool from assigning threshold-violating shifts.

On your mobile app, warnings will appear if a shift transaction up for approval violates any threshold parameters. Desktop-based warnings are coming in the future.

  • Swaps "This swap breaks rules for time-between shifts and may result in penalty pay if approved."
  • Pickup "This shift pickup breaks rules for the time-between-shifts and may result penalty pay if approved."
